The Riverina Umpires Association provides professional and responsible Field, Boundary and Goal Umpires to the Riverina Football League, The Farrer Football and the Wagga and District Junior Australian Football Association each season.
We also provide Umpires on a request basis to the Hume Football League, the Northern Riverina Football League, the South West Junior Football League and the Canberra Football League. Regularly Umpires from our Association are selected to represent NSW Umpires at the State & National Country Football Championships.
The Riverina Umpires Association actively encourages the introduction and development of youth within its ranks. The Association has large numbers of teenagers that have been recruited into umpiring thanks to school visits and AFL Umpiring Department initiatives. They are coached in the skills and requirements of being successful umpires.
The RUA has adopted the AFL Umpire Mentor Program. Under this initiative, the young umpire would be teamed up with a senior umpire and together they would run in junior matches with the senior umpires providing knowledge and assistance to the junior umpire to help develop their skills.
The RUA will always actively encourage youth to be part of our organization, and as such it is our duty to develop them as best we can, not just as umpires, but also as quality members of our community.
